We helped you understand how to recycle your favourite bras
If you are looking at your bras, deciding which ones will make the cut and which will be donated to a local bra collection charity, take a look at our tips for checking when it's time to give your bra the boot!
The back is stretched
The back of your bra will naturally stretch over time as it follows your movement, posture and body changes. If your bra back is a little loose, use the hook system to tighten your bra slightly. If you find that even on the tightest hook, your bra back is still too loose, this is a sure sign this bra is ready to go.
The cups no longer fit
Do you have a noticeable gap between the cups and your breasts? If the answer is yes, it could be because your cups have stretched or your breasts have changed in shape and size. Your breasts will no longer be supported, and your bra will be visible through your clothes, which can alter your appearance.
The straps are loose
There is nothing worse than having to readjust your straps throughout the day constantly. Whether they are sliding down your shoulders or just not sitting in the right position. The straps are an important part of your bra collection as they help to hold your chest in place and support your back. If they are no longer working for you, it's time for the bra to be donated!
The underwire causes pain
No one likes the pain associated with an underwire digging into your chest - we have all felt it! If your underwire is poking into your chest or if you can actually see the underwire starting to come out of the bra, whilst you can do a temporary bra fix, ultimately, this bra has reached its wear-by-date!
The fabric is breaking down
Your bra collection fabric will eventually break down over time due to washing and repeated wearing. If you have noticed the fabric breaking down, your bra is no longer performing the way you want it to and will need to go.
We gave you a guide on choosing the perfect bra for your outfit
Finding the perfect bra that fits comfortably is essential regardless of your style. But there’s another element of selecting your bras – colour! Having a few go-to colours or pairing this season’s colours with classic neutrals can easily transition any outfit into something genuinely fashionable. Sue De Souza makes it easy to find your ideal bra colour pairings with our vast selection of colours, patterns and prints.
Black bras - the ultimate must-have in your underwear drawer. Ideal for darker clothing colour tones and tops with wide sleeve holes.
Red bras - a racy colour for a racy outfit, red offers a feeling of sexiness in your underwear drawer.
White bras - simplicity and elegance, a white bra is a good choice for everyday use; however - be sure to pair it correctly, or you may find it shows up under thinner tops more than you think.
Colour and print bras - opting for a fun underwear drawer can also be sensible if you love brighter colours. Pair your colour and print bras with similar coloured tops to reduce the likelihood of your bra being seen.
With so many colours, patterns and prints, you can create the perfect finishing touch for any outfit. Whether you want to add a pop of colour with an eye-catching image or keep it classic with simple neutrals - the possibilities are endless! You can create an effortless yet stylish look by experimenting with different combinations of colours, shades, textures and prints. So go ahead - express yourself through bold pairings or cosy up in neutral tones - whatever you choose, Sue De Souza Bras has got you covered!
We Told You It Was OK To Love Your Old Bras
In the bustling world of undergarments, bras are arguably the unsung heroes of every woman's wardrobe. They provide support, comfort, and a boost of confidence to help us face the day. But have you ever wondered about the lifespan of your beloved bras? Let's embark on a journey through the life cycle of an average bra and explore when it's not just okay but essential to fix and patch up these wardrobe essentials.
The average lifespan of a bra can vary depending on factors like quality, frequency of wear, and proper care. On average, a well-made bra can last anywhere from 9 to 24 months. However, it's essential to understand that not all bras are created equal. Higher-quality bras may endure longer, while cheaper ones might wear out sooner. The frequency of wear and how you care for your bras play significant roles in determining their longevity.
Bras are put through a lot. They bear the weight of the world (or at least your bust), providing support day in and day out. As you move, stretch, and bend, your bras are right there with you, adapting to your body's needs. With time, the elastic materials that provide this support can lose their resilience, leading to discomfort and a lack of support. Straps may become stretched out or frayed, hooks can lose their grip, and underwire might poke through the fabric. These are all signs that it's time to consider some repairs or replacements.
We raised awareness of Breast Cancer in October
October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when communities across the UK come together to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. At Sue De Souza, we understand that knowledge is power, and one of the most essential aspects of breast health is checking your breasts regularly.
In this blog, we took you on a journey through breast cancer awareness, its symptoms, and diagnosis and guided you through the simple steps of checking your breasts. We'll also discuss the importance of mastectomy bras and how Sue De Souza offers comfortable and bespoke solutions. Let's dive in and empower ourselves for a healthier future.
In the United Kingdom, breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women. Every year, thousands of women are diagnosed with breast cancer, but the good news is that early detection significantly improves the chances of successful treatment. Awareness and regular breast self-exams are key components of early detection, and by spreading knowledge, we can make a difference.
